"be true to you, be your own unique self, no matter what, no matter who, just be you"

At a time when the world is changing and embracing personal uniqueness, for some of us, it has not been fast enough, for others it is still a dream out of reach.
I read today an article about a 14 year old boy who was hung at his summer camp in Iran for being 'Gay'. His only crime, his only sin was being what God had made him to be, uniquely himself. This tears my heart in two................
I have a son who is 'Gay' and remember him just coming of age and awakening during puberty. Although my son did not come out to the entire family until he was 19 years old, I can look back now and remember what it was like for him.
I and my family truly believe that being LGBT is just part of who you are, how you were born. As a person is born right handed or left handed, a person is born hedrosexual, homosexual, bisexual, transexual or any of the other sexualities encompassed under the rainbow.
It is truly not a choice they come to, it is just who they are. God made my son, and gave him to me to cherish and raise. He created my son 'Gay' and I truly believe that as God does not make mistakes, my son is who he was meant to be. I embrace his uniqueness. and thank God for him, each and every single day.
As the world slowly begins embracing each and every individual as unique and beautiful. It is our job to make sure that this happens, that no more children grow up hating themselves because they are a girl trapped in a boys body or visa versa. That no more children are shun by their parents because they are LGBT. That love is simply and ultimately just love and is always beautiful.
Embrace who you are, be your own unique self. Be proud and walk forward through your life hurdling one obstacle after another. Do this for yourself and do this for those who follow you..............
Live, teach, enlighten by example. Just be you and let everyone see your proud, unique, beautiful self. Live your life doing good, paying forward. It is in deeds and action that we will change the world.
I truly believe that my grandchildren will grow up in a world that everyone is treated equally. That everyone is allowed to just be their own unique self. That everyone is allowed to love who they love, to raise a family and just be plain and simply happy. This I work towards, fight for, pray for each and everyday....
